BPA-free concern

...narrator...:: ekey'z
as last two years or last year ( i didnt remember exactly when), the government announced that all baby's bottle feeding and toys sold must be BPA free. everyone just like freaking out. sampai to the extend, buang semua botol and bought the new one. though the previous one tu dah memang BPA free. botol tu dah terang terang tulis PP as material. gi buang jugak. isk isk isk. tak ke membazir namenyer.

mommy, jangan freak out. trying to know what is BPA first. what plastic involved.

so, since my background studying polymer years ago, though i am not that very good at it. but i dont mind to share something i know.

here is some information i wanna share.

not in all plastics bottle have BPA (bisphenol A) element.

ni aku paste skit info psl BPA and plastic yang ade BPA,

Certain plastics called polycarbonates leach low levels of BPA into food or liquids. Leaching from plastic baby bottles and food containers appears to happen at a much lower level than found in canned foods and baby formula. Nevertheless it is good to take simple precautions.

BPA is found in polycarbonate plastic food containers often marked on the bottom with the letters "PC" recycling label #7. Not all #7 labeled products are polycarbonate but this is a reasonable guideline for a category of plastics to avoid. Polycarbonate plastics are rigid and transparent and used for sippy cups, baby bottles, food storage, and water bottles. Some polycarbonate water bottles are marketed as 'non-leaching' for minimizing plastic taste or odor, however there is still a possibility that trace amounts of BPA will migrate from these containers, particularly if used to heat liquids.

Safer products and uses: When possible it is best to avoid #7 plastics, especially for children's food. Plastics with the recycling labels #1, #2 and #4 on the bottom are safer choices and do not contain BPA. Find baby bottles in glass versions, or those made from the safer plastics including polyamine, polypropylene and polyethylene. Soft or cloudy-colored plastic does not contain BPA.

so dear mummy, kalo die dah stated kat situ, made by PP or PES, most likely its BPA free. eh, bukan most likely, but it surely BPA free.

sebab BPA ni biase dorang gune in PC, polycarbonate ( #7) and also in epoxy resin.

tapi tak semua plastic #7 is PC. PC is one of #7 plastic.

paham? ke tak??? ok, camni...

#1,2,3,4,5,6,7 ni orang panggil recycling no. / plastic identification codes.

biasenye semua brg plastic ade mende ni kat bawah botol / cawan / pinggan.

number number ni define the type of plastic/ polymer used.

nak tau lagi lanjut, klik sini. malas nak wat table cam lam notes ms blaja dl. hahahaha

so, senang die nak recycling nanti.

okies???

pasal PC plak, ni die info die.

pasal PC ni, die concern psl 'leaching'. BPA boleh derieved dari PC ni. sbb tu die kate BPA free. which is, in the other words, no more PC feeding bottle sebab sebelum ni memang ade feeding bottle dari PC. kalau ade kes leaching ni, BPA absord in the body. kesan kesan BPA ni pada infant and preggy women boleh baca kat sini.

p/s : saje jek wat pasal ni sebab tengok kt orang jual barang2 baby ni. dah stated PP and PES material. tp ramai gak yang tanye BPA free ke tak. its ok to be aware. tp its much more nice if we know what we are asking about, right???

it is nothing wrong with being a lil bit overprotective. its mummy thing. i know. this is just information sharing jek. :)
